Affiliate Marketing Business - Affiliate Marketing Is Not Just About Redirecting

Many people make the mistake whereby they think that affiliate marketing is just about putting up multiple banners and text links on a web page, and redirect visitors to their affiliate products.

Although you can still earn a few bucks by just redirect visitors directly to your affiliate products, it is not the best practice out there.

The reasons why people choose to do affiliate marketing are because they will not need to come out with their own product. They can promote a product which is already has a good reputation and review on the Internet. From there, what they need to do is only focus on traffic generation. But to sell on the Internet, there are some practices that one cannot afford to neglect.

While you can use affiliate marketing to concentrate solely on how you can improve your skill of driving traffic, you will still need to have your own list. Why not take the opportunity to build a list of a particular industry while you are practicing your traffic generation skill? You don’t even need to worry about the product.

Below are some of things that I feel that they are essential if you want to do affiliate marketing:

1. Build you own list. Get an autoresponder such as Aweber to manage lists of subscribers. Offer them bonus to opt in to your list, before you redirect them to your affiliate products. In this case, if they do not buy during the first visit to your affiliate product website (which is normally the case), at least you have capture their information so that you feed them with more information about the product that you are promoting.

2. Have your own domains or websites. Do not expose your affiliate link directly when you are promoting. Mask them or buy a domain to do domain forwarding. You can set up a simple website, which contains reviews and articles about the product that you are promoting. Then put links that will redirect your visitors to your affiliate products.

3. Traffic, traffic, and traffic. As now you already have a product that can sell on the market, what you need to do is to concentrate on driving quality traffic to your affiliate products. There are lots of ways to drive traffic, which I will not be touching on every one of them. One of the best ways is to use article marketing, which is to submit keyword rich articles to article directories. By just submitting to the top 3 article directories will be more than enough.

Affiliate marketing is not a way to earn quick money. It is a continuous process where you will need to be persistent to reap the rewards.
